Abstract
A survey of 100 whitening cases using a modified BriteSmile®
whitening treatment methodology has demonstrated that
the new procedure achieves an average of 9.3 shades
for patients with starting shades A3 and darker. The
new treatment resulted from ongoing research into methods
of enhancing whitening results without increasing the
concentration of hydrogen peroxide in the BriteSmile®
Procedure Gel. The modified treatment includes an additional
step in the protocol consisting of the application of
a liquid Whitening Accelerator just prior to second
and third applications of the standard BriteSmile®
Procedure Gel (15% hydrogen peroxide, pH 6.5). Additionally,
the study showed that the average case achieved a whitening
effect (“whitening success factor”) representing
91% of the difference between the starting shade and
the top of the VITA PAN shade guide. Significantly,
96% of starting shades D3 and lighter ended at B1.
